Fashion; it is never constant, always evolving and moving forward. And with the creation of Second Life®, there are always new fashions to see and buy for the avatar. The up-and-coming store “Entente” has been drawing lots of attention lately. With multiple designers: Baudouin Resident, Caelestinus Resident, Guarinot Resident, Meraud Resident, Nazaire Resident, and Benezet Resident, there is more than enough creativity to go around. I was able to speak with the group about their new brand and what they expect to accomplish within the SL® fashion industry.

Dura has become a household name. Its creative hair designs for men and women can be spotted on the runway, in the latest issues of magazines, and even on most Second Life® residents on a day-to-day basis. And while you may be quite familiar with the brand, many are not familiar with the humble creators behind the scenes. This month, AVENUE sits down with one half of the creative team, Chiaki Xue, to find out more about how she got her start in the world of hair, and a little more on the history of Dura.

House of Fox is a well-known, innovative fashion house that was born nearly two years ago. During those two years, its brand has evolved and designer, Fashionboi Landar has become an influential fashion designer within Second Life®. Landar is known for an avant-garde spirit in his clothing, frequently creating designs far removed from the current trends. His diversity and versatility is what sets him apart from other designers.

I remember hearing about Keira Seerose and CHIC Management when the Black and Blue Fair started during the summer of last year. I loved the concept of it: raising awareness about mental illnesses while shopping. It was a creative concept that garnered a lot of attention. Now CHIC has grown into a business that gets bigger and bigger with each event. The events that Seerose and her team put on always amaze as each one gets better and better.

The AVENUE runway came to life with plenty of fierce competition during the last year as contestants from all over the grid competed for the opportunity to become the face of Couture AVENUE by entering the Couture AVENUE Look 2011 Contest. Each month, contest hopefuls submitted photograph entries displaying their stunning styles created from designs from some of Second Life®’s most talented designers. Please join AVENUE as we celebrate the selection of our two talented and charismatic winners, Diconay Boa and Harsch Sharktooth.

They say diamonds are a girl’s best friend. If that is true then for this girl, clothes and shoes are a close second. I have to admit that I have not always been a shoe girl in real life or in my Second Life®, but they are inching their way into my heart, heel by heel. For that I am thankful because there are some amazingly gorgeous shoes out there, and when I put them on my feet, I feel sexy from head to toe. Nardya Rousselot of the famous NX-Nardcotix brand creates beautiful high quality shoes as well as one-of-a-kind clothing.

Belleza means beauty in Spanish and it so accurately reflects the work of Tricky Boucher and his store, Belleza Skins. With over 36,000 group members currently, Belleza Skins is one of the most successful stores in Second Life®, and a good reason is because all of their skins are amazingly realistic and people love it. “Wonderful creations come in every collection, and their skins are fantastic,” says Honey Endrizzi, one of those 36,000 fans of Belleza.

This seasons “it” color is most certainly orange. It graced the Fall runways of Gucci, Bottega Veneta, Lanvin, Burberry and many more. Designers in Second Life® have added this deliciously edible hue to their own collections. Rich pumpkin hues to electric orange never looked so good. ~ Vixie Rayna

Newcomer Luxianna Aeon of Coeur Noir found inspiration in the paintings of Rothko for her color-blocked outfit of the same name. Paired with the pink-tinted Tres Chic hat from Nardya Rousselot’s new collection, you will bring a serious “wow” when you walk in the room.

All Hallows' Eve is just around the corner, and I figured this would be the perfect opportunity for me to talk about one of my favorite costume stores. If you look around Second Life® there are many places where you can pick up complete costumes, or even put things together yourself using various items from different designers. But Surreal LeShelle has done such an amazing job of providing us ladies with some of the best costumes on the grid under one roof.

Vive9 is one of most well-known stores in Second Life® and it has been making fashionistas across the grid clamor for its items. With stylish clothes to match every season and shoes to die for, it’s not much of a surprise. Amazing details, rich textures, and bold styles help make this brand stand out from everyone else. This month, I spoke with Sanya Bilavio, the owner of Vive9 about her in-world life and her famous store.

I first came to Second Life® through a friend in 2006, and I quickly became addicted to the many fascinating sims, builds, and creations that surround the grid. For the first couple of years, I made friends, went to clubs, and explored sims; however, my favorite part of Second Life was seeing what kind of clothes I could find, actually put on together, and what combinations of looks I was able to create using items from various designers. After all, at that time, there was not an infinite number of attachment options, tattoo layers, alpha layers, and let's be honest, not a whole lot of men's clothes to choose from that had any quality to them at all. This love of fashion led me, after much deliberation, to join the modeling world of Second Life.

Graced on the October Cover of AVENUE Magazine was none other then designer Faint Paulse. Known for her unique and cutting edge designs Faint continues to mesmerize the fashion world with each season's release.
AVENUE brings you the Paulse of Fashion in it's October Issue.

As a designer, Faint Paulse is known for her creative prowess and creating exceptional and sometimes even unconventional designs. She challenges the notions of what is beautiful and chic. When you hear the name Ladies Who Lunch, the first things that should come to mind are carefully detailed and realistic textures, bold colors, wickedly sinful shoes, and, of course, high quality styles. Paulse is a talented designer who could just as easily be creating art as fashion. When asked about her inspirations for designing in SL, Paulse simply replies: “Anything and everything. It depends. In the beginning, I did a lot of custom work, so I was just making things to fill orders. It began monopolizing my time, and I wanted to do more of what I wanted to do, so I slowly got away from it. Now, I flip through fashion magazines when I'm in line at the supermarket or online. Sometimes it's a photo, sometimes it's a shape or a concept. It doesn't matter.”

R.icielli is one of the most famous stores in Second Life® and it is present in many projects and events related to virtual fashion, mainly because their products are so versatile and varied enough to please even the most diverse types of taste. There are customers of all types, from the most fashionable fashionistas who like to produce photographic essays, to the most basic consumers that are buying just for daily use. “That makes us very happy, because it shows how much people love and approve of our work,” says Fhara Ricielli, owner and designer of R.icielli. “To be honest, we did not have a target audience exactly. What we wanted was to get the majority of residents to know and love our store...and we did.”

Second Life is the home of realization, the outlet for our wildest dreams and the epitome of creation. As we enter into the most sought after fashion season of the year, AVENUE went behind the scenes of both design houses new and reborn to find out the inspirations behead this seasons creatives. Without further ado...
"Evangelista: the revival of the true supermodel"
Cover Story | Page 34
Written by Sensuous Soulstar & Photography by Annough Lykin
“The 90s were the dawn of the term ‘supermodel.’ The 80s had Gia [Carangi] and we have some now, but nothing like when we could all catch Cindy Crawford on MTV's House of Style or Style with Elisa Kentch on CNN. The 90s were the dawn of the Victoria Secret Angels, and a time when Linda Evangelista (hence the name “Evangelista”) said ‘I won't get out of bed for less than $10,000 a day.’ The goal of my company is not just shoes or skins, but to bring back that supermodel status when models names were as common as famous actresses’. Evangelista’s modeling schools and city replicate the supermodels’ lifestyle and era that was the decade of the supermodel. That’s what Evangelista is all about: real life fashion and being as close to a real life model as one can get.”

When shopping at Jador Fashion, there is an attraction to the photographs of the many gorgeous designs inside gold frames hanging along every wall. The stone pillars and huge archways that lead one through each section give the feeling of stepping right into Italy. The warm and regal atmosphere, along with the beautiful clothing are truly inspiring. Ziamela Loon, the mind behind fashion store, Jador, has found her creative niche and expresses it through each and every detail of her work. In a world where fashion moves at such a rapid pace, it makes it hard to keep up with the latest trends and styles. Yet, Ziamela does a great job of creating her own trends and continuously pushing the envelope. Recently, Ziamela spoke with AVENUE about her time in Second Life® as a fashion designer.

Beginning Second Life® out of curiosity, Didier Rascon thought it would be like any other computer game. Little did he know that he would discover a world that opens up the possibility to do and be almost anything. Now a SL™ fashion designer, Didier’s inspiration and passion for life and fashion has helped him to create a successful clothing brand for both men and women. Looking your best and showing your own personality and style through clothing is one of the best parts of SL. House of Europe has become a great place to help residents accomplish just that.

Do you ever stop to smell the roses? Look around you and wonder how it all came to be? Each month AVENUE takes you inside some of the most stunning creations on the grid. This month we're proud to feature both lesser known spots and the massive creativity's from those more well known.
"Anna’s Many Murders A Descent into Madness Portrayed in Second Life®"
Interesting Sims | Page 160
Written by Spruce Canning & Photography by Tillie Ariantho
There are many sims in-world; some with heavenly scenes and tranquil gardens, and then there are those that resemble a horror film, such as Dance Macabre, that would bring nightmares to even the most jaded resident of Second Life®. Bryn Oh’s Anna’s Many Murders ranks in the second category. Not only does it chronicle a young woman’s descent into insanity, it also strips away the protective cocoon that the 21st Century man has constructed for himself in the form of smart phones, tablets, and other mobile devices with their myriad of applications that immerse the individual into his own private world, ignoring the collective world around him. I spoke with Bryn Oh about the sim and the grim message that it sends to man, and the potential loss of humanity that having mobile technology and programs to seal one off from reality.
"Décor to Fall in Love With"
Architecture & More | Page 176
Written by Augusta Carver & Photography by Brie Wonder
When I visit someone’s home in Second Life®, I almost always see something that I love; from a picture hanging on the wall, to the home itself. Renting or buying, there are way too many choices to deal with. Since my first days in-world, I have fallen in love with SL™ homes. The possibilities are endless. And for me, even though it seems overwhelming to find the right place to live or the right piece of furniture to complement a home, I can never have too many options. Buying a house or trying out furniture is like a mini SL adventure in itself. Sometimes you know what you want, other times you have no clue, but along the way you discover great textures, clean lines, and amazing details. Builder Froukje Hoorenbeek of Dutchie Furniture fell in love with homes and building herself, and has since created a brand that delivers inspiration and amazingly realistic furniture and homes within SL.
"Running the Course with the Avatar Games"
Sports & Recreation | Page 188
Written by Sensuous Soulstar & Photography by Ozz Larsson
While Bryn Oh is a name that never needs an introduction, her latest build just might. Given the serious, profound nature of the work that she has come to be known for, the LEA Art Games, or Avatar Games as they’re commonly known, is something a little more fun, and a lot more lighthearted from the mind of Oh. Participants make their way through an obstacle course while avoiding somewhat difficult obstacles and traps, and of course, dodging shots (both literally and figuratively!) from the audience and the commentators. This month, we take a moment to catch the famed builder and creative genius to get a better idea of this exciting new form of entertainment in Second Life®, and to really figure out if the virtual bumps and bruises are all worth it in the end.
"Virtual museums: the next incarnation of architecture in Second Life®"
Business Feature | Page 198
Written by Spruce Canning & Photography by Blaz Halfpint
When one talks of architecture in Second Life®, there is one place that comes to mind and that is the Virtual Museum, formerly known as The Frank Lloyd Wright Museum. According to Rosalie Oldrich, Exceutive Director of the Virtual Museum, the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation revoked the licensing agreement with the Virtual Museum in December 2010 for use of the name. The Virtual Museum is a virtual showcase of architecture from different historical periods, such as the recreation of Monticello, the home designed and built by the third President of the United States, Thomas Jefferson, as well as building styles from the last century and even futuristic concepts by contemporary architects such as I.M. Pei and others.

Short, long, curly, or straight, you can find just about any style of hair you could want and even dream of in Second Life®. For some people who change their hairstyle every day or every week, hair can be much more necessary than any other accessory to further complete their look. Creator of Magika, Sabina Gully understands that need and has been dreaming up some of the hottest realistic flexi and sculpted hair on the grid.
